MAG boxes and Formuler devices are purpose-built IPTV boxes — no apps to install, no app stores. They connect through a portal URL: enter the portal address from your access details once, and the box loads everything — live channels, the programme guide and on-demand. Setup takes about 10 minutes, most of it waiting for the first load.
What you need before you start
- A MAG box (250, 254, 256, 322, 424 and similar) or a Formuler device (Z7, Z8, Z10, Z11 series and similar).
- Your IPTV France portal URL — sent with your access details by email or WhatsApp. This is different from the M3U link: it’s a short address ending in /c/ (or similar) that the box uses as its portal. Keep the message open.
- The box connected to your TV (HDMI) and to the internet. Ethernet is strongly recommended — these boxes are built for wired connections and perform noticeably better on cable than on Wi-Fi.
- Your box’s MAC address (sometimes needed — see below). Find it on the sticker underneath the box, or in Settings → Device info.
Portal URL, M3U, Xtream — what’s the difference?
Three ways to connect the same subscription — use the one your device is built for:
- Portal URL — for MAG and Formuler. The box loads a provider portal: channels, guide and VOD in one interface, no app needed. This guide.
- Xtream Codes API — for phone, tablet, TV and stick apps. Server address + username + password entered in a player app.
- M3U playlist — a channel-list file (or URL) loaded into a player app, with the guide added separately.
All three reach the same channels. MAG and Formuler are engineered around portals — always use the portal URL on them, not M3U. App-based methods are covered in our Xtream Codes & M3U guide.
Step-by-step: MAG box
- Connect the box to your TV (HDMI) and to your router (Ethernet cable recommended), then power it on.
- On first boot (or after a reset), the box may ask for language and network settings — complete them.
- Go to Settings → System settings → Servers → Portals.
- Select Portal 1. Enter a name — e.g. “IPTV France” — and paste the portal URL exactly as received. Double-check every character: one wrong letter and the portal won’t load.
- Save (OK / Confirm), go back to the main menu, and choose Restart portal — or simply reboot the box.
- The box connects to the portal and starts loading: channels first, then the programme guide, then on-demand. The first load can take 5–10 minutes — let it finish.
- Browse with the remote: TV for live channels, the guide button for the EPG, and the video-club section for movies and series.
Do you need to register your MAC address? Some providers link the portal to your box’s MAC address. If your portal loads but shows no channels (or an error about the device), message us on WhatsApp with the MAC address from the sticker under the box — we’ll link it for you.
Step-by-step: Formuler device
- Connect the Formuler to your TV (HDMI) and to your router (Ethernet recommended), then power it on and complete the initial Android setup.
- Open the MYTVOnline app — it’s preinstalled on Formuler devices and is the whole point of owning one.
- Choose Add Portal (may be labelled as an Xtream-type / portal connection).
- Enter a name (e.g. “IPTV France”) and paste the portal URL. If the app instead asks for server address + username + password separately, enter those from your access details — it’s the same connection, just split into fields.
- Choose Connect and let the content load — channels, guide and VOD, a few minutes the first time.
- Explore: Live TV, the EPG timeline, and the VOD section are the three main areas. Long-press OK on a channel to add favourites.
MYTVOnline2 and MYTVOnline3 (on newer Z models) work the same way — the menus look slightly different, but “add portal → enter URL → connect” is identical.
Common problems and fixes
The portal won’t load at all
Check the URL character by character — this causes most failures. Then check the box actually has internet (open the box’s network settings or try its built-in browser/speed test). If both are fine and it still won’t load, your box’s MAC may need registering — message us on WhatsApp with the MAC address.
“Your device / MAC is blocked” or similar error
The portal doesn’t recognize the box. Send us the MAC address (sticker under the box, format like 00:1A:79:xx:xx:xx) and we’ll sort it out. Don’t guess at MAC addresses — use the real one.
Portal loads but the channel list is empty
Wait — the first sync takes up to 10 minutes. If it’s still empty, restart the portal (MAG) or disconnect/reconnect it (Formuler → edit portal → connect). Still empty? Our EPG & login fixes walk through the rest.
Black screen when opening a channel
Wait 20 seconds — some streams take a moment. If it persists on one channel but others work, it’s the stream. If no channel plays, restart the portal, then reboot the box.
Guide (EPG) is empty after loading
Normal for the first 10 minutes. After that, restart the portal to trigger a fresh EPG sync. On Formuler, check the EPG settings in MYTVOnline — the update interval should be enabled.
Box freezes or is very slow
Reboot it (unplug 10 seconds, replug). MAG boxes in particular benefit from a weekly reboot. Also check for a firmware update: Settings → Software update — outdated firmware causes a surprising number of “mystery” problems.
Two portals conflict
If you test another provider alongside ours, disable the old portal first before adding the new one — two active portals fight over the EPG and cause exactly the weird symptoms you’d expect.
Tips for the best quality
- Use Ethernet. These boxes are designed for wired connections — Wi-Fi works, but cable is steadier, especially for 4K and busy match nights.
- Keep firmware updated — Settings → Software update, monthly check.
- Reboot weekly. A box that’s been on for a month accumulates glitches; a fresh boot clears them.
- Don’t overload Portal slots. One active portal at a time keeps the EPG clean and the box fast.
- Ventilation matters. These small boxes run warm — don’t stack them inside a closed cabinet with no airflow.
Frequently asked questions
Portal URL or M3U — which one for my box?
Always the portal URL on MAG and Formuler — they’re built for it. M3U is for phone and computer apps. Your access details include both, so use each where it belongs.
Can I use the box on another TV?
Yes — your access is linked to the portal (and possibly the box’s MAC), not to the TV. Move the box, reconnect it to the internet, done.
Can I watch on the box and my phone at the same time?
Your subscription covers personal and household use — check your plan’s terms. See pricing and terms of service for the specifics.
What’s the difference between MAG and Formuler?
Both are portal-based boxes. MAG is the classic, minimal, rock-solid workhorse; Formuler adds a polished Android layer (MYTVOnline) with a nicer interface and apps. Either works identically with IPTV France.
I lost my portal URL — what now?
It’s in the original message we sent you. If you can’t find it, message us on WhatsApp or email [email protected] and we’ll resend your access details.
